Save the Dates-April

Hi everyone,

We have started this fun post; we hope you like it.

April in Saint Lucia-What to do?

What are some of the special days in Saint Lucia?

By now, you would have gotten over all the pranks of All Fool’s Day. And for those who celebrated Palm Sunday on April 2nd, may this week be one of rest and reflection as the Easter week begins.

April 3rd is Only Go to Work If It’s Fun Day.

I hope you will be thinking of ways to make it fun instead of not going altogether. If you are at the hotel, try to make it a little ‘more’ fun for the staff. You are the reason they come in to work every day.

April 4th is Tell a Lie Day. Forget that.

April 5th is National Walking Day.

If you are on the property, what better way to get your 10,000 steps in? Walking around Cap Maison, you can take in the smell of the ocean, listen to the sound of the waves and marvel at the beautiful flowers and birds on the property. Walk down to the beach, then return to your room to retrieve the towel you intentionally forgot. I bet this will be the most scenic National Walking Day you will ever have.

April 5th is also Passover, so if you are a believer, wherever you are, stay indoors at sunset.

April 7th is Good Friday – A Christian holiday that marks the death of Jesus, celebrated by Christians around the world and in St. Lucia. If you are on the property, you will likely enjoy St. Lucian Fish Cakes and a variety of fish dishes traditionally prepared on Good Friday.

April 7th is also Caramel Pop Corn Day and National Beer Day.

Ironically, No Housework Day and World Health Day are celebrated that same date. You can help me reconcile how you can eat fishcakes and caramel popcorn while drinking beer and doing no housework on World Health Day. Hmmm…Stay at Cap Maison, obviously. The Naked Fisherman has its own-label beer to boot!

April 9th is Easter Sunday, a holiday marking Jesus Christ’s resurrection. Just like Good Friday, this day is celebrated by Christians in St. Lucia and Christians around the world.

April 10th is National Siblings Day. If you have any, call them today.

Whoa! There is a Grilled Sandwich Day?

April 12th is Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day. If you are on the property, ask the chef to be creative and help you celebrate in style, perhaps with a superb Chardonnay. If you are at home, you can make your own or try my perfect grilled cheese sandwich recipe; Two medium slices of Ciabatta smeared with olive & sundried tomato tapenade, topped with Swiss and pepper jack cheese. I like it slightly burnt, with perfectly melted cheese. If there is fresh tomato soup waiting nearby, I’m in heaven!

Suppose you overindulged in too many grilled sandwiches. In that case,

April 13th is International Plant Appreciation Day. Thanks to Mother Nature’s unique plants nourishing us, you can have a plant-based diet day. It is also a good day to appreciate the plants that bring beauty and richness to our spaces. Cap Maison would not be as beautiful if it were not for the gorgeous Flora.

April 16th is World Mushroom Day.

Request a mushroom dish today if you are on the property, or prepare a simple sautéed Garlic Mushroom stew at home. BTW Chef Craig Jones produces a memorable mushroom risotto if it is on the menu. It is heaven.

April 19th is Garlic Day. If you missed yesterday, you have a do-over. Try adding garlic to all your dishes today. Raw garlic has many health benefits. I understand you may want to shy away because of garlic breath. Still, I have learned that the taste and smell are drastically reduced if you eat or chew on parsley, celery or raw green veggie leaves. Try it!

April 22nd is Earth Day.

Join the rest of the world in their appreciation for the planet. If you are staying with us at this, ask the concierge to find out what events are planned on the island. You can join in many of them, from beach cleaning to reef cleaning.

April 23rd is National English Muffin Day, so this should be your breakfast option today.

April 27th is National Prime Rib Day. How I would love to be in the Cap Maison kitchen today! But it is also Tell A Story Day, so if you are away from the property, you can tell a story of the best Prime Rib you’ve had and post it on our Facebook Page.

April 30th is International Jazz Day.

Quite fitting as St. Lucia moves into May with the Jazz Festival May St. Lucia 5th – 14th. See you there!

Did you know that this year’s headliner is Global rock legend Sting?
