On a recent official visit to the Caribbean on behalf of the Royal Family, Prince Harry took in the sights and sounds of Saint Lucia’s street festivals, sports and important landmarks. Visit Castries

Prince Harry stopped by the Government House in Castries for an official reception, but there’s plenty more to do in the capital of Saint Lucia. A guest favorite activity is tagging along with our own Chef Craig on Saturdays to visit Castries Market to shop for fresh meats and produce for the Naked Fisherman and Cliff at Cap Restaurants. It’s also a great place to purchase locally-made souvenirs for friends and family.

Catch a Cricket Match

Harry headed to the pitch to watch a match between two teams competing on behalf of His Royal Highness and the Prime Minister at Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, where the St. Lucia Zouks play. Take in the island’s favorite sport by purchasing tickets to the next match.

Pigeon Island

During a visit to Pigeon Island, the prince planted a Calabash tree, the national tree of St. Lucia, and unveiled a dedication plaque to honor Castries Water Works Reserve and surrounding rainforest as St Lucia’s contribution to The Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy.

The Saint Lucia National Trust boasts Pigeon Island as one of the most important St. Lucian landmarks. The 44-acre reserve features:

• Ruins of military buildings used during the battles between the French and the British for the island of Saint Lucia.
• An Interpretation Centre describing the rich history of the island.
• Two beautiful beaches.
• A restaurant featuring local cuisine.
• A pub and restaurant with a historical theme.
• A lookout point at the top of the Fort which gives a panoramic view of the Northwest coastline.

See a Street Festival

Situated between the Pitons, the prince took in a street festival in the town of Soufriere, enjoying traditional food and drink from local vendors as well as live local music.
